NBA Championship

What a terrific, classic, game 7 to decide the NBA championship.

All the great play aside, my favorite part of the game was Ron Artest. He is the first player ever to thank their psychiatrist in their post-game interview immediately after winning a championship game.

And good for him. It's something that needs to be destigmatized, especially among men.

P.S. Fuck Kobe.

I hate to use other people's quotes, but Rudy T was right about underestimating the hearts of champions.
Boston was playing .500 ball the 2 months leading up to the playoffs. They really surprised me with how they were able to turn it on for the playoffs. Although I think their age finally caught up with them in game 7.

My take on the reason the Celts lost was not their age, but losing Perkins. Yeah Sheed hit a couple shots, but they needed rebounding and defense more than scoring. Gasol killed them on the boards. 18 rebounds for Pau! If Perkins was playing, cut that number in half and also, half the amount of 2nd chance opportunities. I texted a few people early on, and saw that this was going to be a problem.

It's a shame too, because Kobe threw up a shit burger and the Celts played him perfectly. Kobe made some plays down the stretch, but played an awful game. They lost that game because of size. Perk I think would have been the difference. But, oh well.

Agreed, Ev. I leave game 7 wondering "What if Perkins was healthy?" Injuries are part of the game, so not that the Lakers didn't earn it, but...

In any case, Artest is fucking nuts. I'm glad he's aware that he's not entirely stable and is getting help. Have you guys heard him singing his Michael Jackson tribute on YouTube? "Michael Michael, you're my nigga"? Lol...

BTW, thanks, Ev, for not posting my Finals prediction, which could have not been more off.
